Our New Addition

See the little tongue sticking out, how sweet.

This is Leix  Lexington Ross. I am not sure where the kids came up with his name, but here he is. I have to tell you, these pictures do not give him justice. He is the most amazing creature I have ever seen. His eyes are mesmerizing and his fur is like sleek midnight satin. In the past we have had cats and our daughter broke out and her eyes swelled. So, we got rid of our cats and just kept dogs. Melanie has been going to friend’s houses and they have had cats. She will come home and rave about the cats and how she wanted one. This one was up to dad. So on Tuesday Jeff decided that we were going to get a cat.

Here is our baby, and I am on the phone in the back ground. Jeff said that I should of had a phone attached to my ear at birth.

So, Jeff and I took the kids to the Human Society of Omaha. The center was amazing and they had so many cats to choose from. We also like the fact that all of the cats are spayed and neutered. We told the kids, look around and you make the decision. We seen a couple that the kids oohed and awed. But nothing that was eye opening and impressive. Then we came to this one window, laying on it’s back was huge black cat. I tapped on the glass and the cat woke up and laid it’s paw on my finger as if we were touching. The cat jumped up and started to rub on everything in its little cage. Then it did the most amazing thing, it started cleaning it fur and when he looked up, his tongue was still sticking out. The kids went crazy. See, we had a cat that was about fifteen years old that would do the same thing, and the kids missed him so much. They were amazed by this black cat.

Well, the center called us and we met with this councilor, he took us into a room and brought the cat in. Oh, not only was he beautiful, he was a lover. He went to Luke, and then Melanie, Jeff and I. He just walked down the line. He purred right away and he rubbed his face on ours. Jeff said “He is also a self petting cat”, what he meant was, you place your hand out there and the cat will do the rest. So, we adopted him. We brought him home and our dog chased him in the bedroom and this is where he has resided ever since. The kids go in the bedroom and just play and handle him. He loves it. He will get use to the house and the two dogs. So, welcome to our newest family member.  Love Tanya

  1. So sweet, your new addition is beautiful, I do miss our cat, even though we have not had her for about 3 years now. She was our Whiskey girl, lived a long 12 years. Enjoy, love the shine of her fur! Nana C

  2. What a punkin! Good choice.

Did I tell you that my mom saw Mel at VBS and almost fell over? Mel was standing and talking with me and my mom came up. I saw her look at Mel like she should know her, so I said: “Mom, do you know who this is?” She didn’t. When I told her she grabbed ‘Mew’ up and gave her a huge hug. She couldn’t believe how ‘grown up’ she looks. Me, either! She sure is a sweetie pie.

    Love ya!!

  3. Melanie did say that some lady came up to her and gave her a big hug, but she could not tell me who it was. That is funny. Tell your mom and dad “Hi” for me, I just love your parents, they are so wonderful and so full of hospitality. Talk to ya later, love Tanya

  4. Aw, what a cutey! We also have a self-petting cat who lives in the bedroom ;-)
